New national research part-funded by Brightwater shows it costs around $88,000 a year to provide health and residential care for a person living with dementia in Australia.
Brightwater contributed to the Flinders University study through its funding collaboration with the Cognitive Decline Partnership Centre alongside Dementia Australia, HammondCare and Helping Hand. The study’s WA data was supplied by the wonderful residents and staff at three of our residential sites.
According to lead author Dr Emmanuel Gnanamanickam, the increase in dementia and demand for aged care services in Australia "has made future funding for these services a major government and societal priority."
