If you want to stay living in your own home, but need some help with some daily tasks, then you may have been approved for the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).
The CHSP helps older Australians access entry-level support services to live independently and safely within their own home. At Brightwater, we focus on providing quality aged care services to enable you to maintain your independence, just with a little help from us.
We can lend a hand with the essentials at home, including sweeping, mopping, ironing, dusting, vacuuming and more. Your support worker can keep your bathroom and kitchen spick and span, and can also keep on top of the laundry.
If you want to bake your grandkid’s favourite cookies or make your famous lasagne, just tell us what we can do. Our meal preparation service includes chopping, grating, roasting, sautéing – you name it. We can even help prepare your weekly menu or arrange meal deliveries.
You can tick off your to-do list a whole lot quicker. Your support worker can help do the shopping, whether that’s for everyday groceries or birthday and Christmas presents. We’ll help you come up with ideas and can lend a hand when it comes to wrapping. And if you need to pop in to the pharmacy, post office, or drycleaner, that’s no problem.
If you want to get more involved with the community, you can. We can arrange day trips and activities for a nice change of scenery. You could take up a new course, play a game of chess or simply visit the library.
Feeling and looking your best will never go out of style. Your support worker can be on stand-by if you need extra support. Our personal services include hair care and shaving, make-up and beauty, getting dressed, oral health, continence management and showering.
We all need a break now and then. Maybe there’s a to-do list to tick. Or maybe someone just needs to be a daughter again. Whatever the reason, our respite services are there so carers can take a breather whenever they need. Our Brightwater at Home team is trained to provide respite and care for people in their own homes, so there’s no need to worry.
As part of our respite care service, our support workers coordinate meaningful activities and interactions during daily visits, or a couple of visits per week. This gives our clients the chance to experience new things, while giving carers the chance to take some time out.
Improve your mobility, strength and confidence at home and in your community. You can access our wide range of health professionals, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers, speech pathologists, and therapy assistants.
We’ll work with you to put a goal-oriented plan in action, assisting you with reconditioning and rehabilitation after an injury or stroke or we can develop exercise plans to maintain your strength and mobility. Plus our whole team works together; to make sure you receive the best quality care.
The Australian Government heavily subsidises our Commonwealth Home Support Program services, so that your fees stay reasonable and affordable. Generally your contribution to help cover the cost of services is approximately $15 per hour or $7.50 per half hour for each service you receive from us. Under the Commonwealth Home Support Program there are no exit fees or other fees to worry about.
If you have been approved for the Commonwealth Health Support Program, you would have found out in your face-to-face appointment with your assessor. Once you have been provided with the Referral Code for a service, give us a call and we can chat if our services are right for you. Call us on 1300 223 968.
We will need the referral code for each service you are eligible for. If you have misplaced your codes, you can log in to your online My Aged Care account to view the codes. Using your referral codes, we can view your online account, accept the referral, and start organising your services.
Depending on the number of services you require, we can arrange for one of our client coordinators to visit you at home to develop a detailed support plan. During this visit we sort out details such as the exact services you require, how often you require them and your preferred times to have our care workers call on you.
You'll be funded by CHSP if you haven’t been assessed for Support at Home yet. But don’t worry – you can always get reassessed if your needs change.
In the meantime, we can provide top-up home care services if your funding won’t cover the services you want, including dog walks, creative sessions, home modification, physiotherapy, podiatry and much more! If you choose to top-up services, you can pay for these privately.
