Bringing better virtual care to residents with Telecarts!

Brightwater Ragin and Ed rollout Telecarts to help residents access healthcare more frequently and efficiently

We’re levelling up virtual care across our Residential Aged Care communities, and the excitement is real.

With support from WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA), our sites are rolling out Telecarts, mobile stations packed with tech that brings virtual GP consults much closer to the real thing. Instead of relying on phone calls alone, GPs can now review residents using tools like a USB stethoscope, digital skin camera and pulse oximeter, with support from onsite RNs and ENs.

It’s not a replacement for face-to-face care, but it’s a major upgrade from phone-based reviews — and it’s already helping clinicians make clearer, more confident decisions.

The Village was the first to put a Telecart to the test, and the feedback has been fantastic. Staff found it intuitive, easy to use and genuinely helpful for supporting timely clinical conversations. Plenty of team members have already put their hand up to try it next.

Behind the rollout is a dynamic duo making it all possible:

  • Ragin Barzanji, who led the technical setup and integration, and

  • Ed Gaudoin, who shaped the policy, procedures and training to support safe and consistent use.

Their collaboration has helped the Telecart slot seamlessly into day-to-day practice and the benefits are already showing.

With more carts on the way across our communities, the Telecart era has officially begun!

And it’s bringing residents one step closer to better, more connected virtual care.
