Brightwater awarded National Industry PhD partnership

Brightwater has been selected as an industry partner in the Australian Government's National Industry PhD Program, reinforcing our commitment to research that improves care and delivers better outcomes for the people we support.

The National Industry PhD Program supports collaborative research between universities and industry partners to tackle real-world challenges. Successful projects receive Australian Government funding to support PhD candidates undertaking research with direct industry application.

Delivered in partnership with The University of Western Australia, Brightwater’s successful project will focus on the early identification of health decline in residential aged care to reduce avoidable hospital transfers.

Sheralee Tamaliunas, Chief Clinical Excellence Officer, said the project reflects Brightwater's commitment to combining research with everyday practice.

“Research is part of who we are at Brightwater,” said Sheralee.

“By working alongside leading universities, we are able to build on our existing research to help improve care, strengthen our workforce and deliver the best possible outcomes for the people we support.”

Brightwater was one of just 91 projects nationally to receive funding in Round 7 of the program, highlighting the value of collaboration between research and industry to address some of Australia's most important health challenges.
