Staff and residents at The Oaks are "one large family"

Resident at The Oaks in Waikiki, Susan Henderson, has been extremely happy with the level of care she’s received from Brightwater staff since she moved to The Oaks a few months ago. She also commends the team on their commitment to lifting clients’ spirits during COVID-19.

I would like to take this opportunity to pay a compliment to the staff of The Oaks in Waikiki. I have been a resident here now for a few months now, and I have found it to be a very wonderful place to be. During COVID-19 and visitor restrictions, the staff have gone out of their way to make the days not only pleasant but fun for us all. They have been very inventive - from taking us out into the sunshine for coffee or for meals, to bringing baby rabbits for us to cuddle during Easter. Oh yes and I had a visit from the Easter Bunny!

Susan said that staff members from all areas of the business have gone above and beyond in their duties.

I don’t feel as if I am alone but rather a member of a very large family and that includes the staff. Not once during this time have I seen one frown, one worried look or any bad moods yet I know the staff are under a lot of pressure with the restrictions in their own lives.

There is not a single member of staff I dislike or have any issue with. They are efficient, professional yet still very friendly and pleasant. They made every endeavour to make sure we did not feel isolated during visitor restrictions, with window visits and even arranging a way for us to Skype our loved ones

It is very rare to be able to say that every member of staff is wonderful but I can say that here so easily and that goes for the OT department, Physiotherapy department, Office Staff and Management too. I feel very grateful for my home here and I have never been happier.

I cannot leave out the kitchen staff and cleaners. The kitchen staff need a special mention because I have a few quirks in my diet and they go out of their way to ensure I have meals that I love.  So thank you.

Susan wants to thank all staff for their outstanding work.

I would love to be able to say a great big thank you to all members of staff. I can’t mention names as if I missed one single person I would be mortified but I do mean everyone.

I could keep going with the compliments and this would turn into a book so I will stop here but know each one of you have played a part in turning this time of my life into something I enjoy and I wake up happy just about every day.
