Residents and staff across Brightwater’s Care Group’s twelve residential aged care homes have been treated to special pop up concerts by two of WA’s brightest young opera singers over the last month.

West Australian Opera duo Lachlann Lawton and Chelsea Burns, together with pianist Adrian Soares, have been touring Brightwater residential sites to perform private concerts.

The Morning Melodies concerts have been held outside with performers observing safe social distancing practices.

Brightwater CEO, Jennifer Lawrence, says the concerts are a small way of saying thank you to clients and staff.

“We wanted to show our appreciation to our clients for their patience and resilience during what has been a challenging time and to thank staff for their hard work and commitment in keeping everyone safe,” Ms Lawrence says.

“Because of COVID-19, our clients have not been able to have as many outings or have their usual entertainers such a musicians and choirs come to visit, so we wanted to bring something special right to their doorstep.”

As part of the Morning Melodies series, Baritone Lachlann Lawton and Soprano Chelsea Burns, both of whom are members of the Wesfarmers Arts Young Artist program at West Australian Opera, have been performing some well-loved classics such as New York New York and songs from Les Misérables and La Vie En Rose.
