In light of Aged Care Employee Day, we are celebrating some of our fantastic employees, who each make a significant difference to the lives of our clients every day.

Meet Margaretta

It was 1977 when Margaretta first started working in the aged care industry and Brightwater was known as the Home of Peace. Margaretta chose to work in the aged care industry as she found it interesting, saying that the Home of Peace had a great atmosphere and was a nice place to work. Fast forward to 2019, and Margaretta is working in Hotel Services with Brightwater The Village

“Knowing the relatives and having little chats to them when they come to see their loved ones is great. I feel that every day is a challenge for me and my motto is to take one day at a time. I know that I have done my best with the residents each day.

I have lots of great memories when working at the Home of Peace and Brightwater especially. I’ve made many friendships, staff have brought in and shared some delicious lunches and I’ve enjoyed going out on occasions.

Caring for others not only helps the residents but it also gives me satisfaction knowing they are well looked after,” says Margaretta.

Having worked in the industry for such a long time, Margaretta has some fantastic memories, and has seen Brightwater expand into an organisation that supports people of all ages to live a better quality of life.  Outside of work, Margaretta loves to travel and explore the outback with her husband, which they have been doing for many years.

“Margaretta is a quiet achiever who is well liked by both the residents and the staff. Margaretta goes with flow and always has a friendly, warm smile no matter the situation,” says Erica, Deputy Service Manager at The Village.

Big congratulations to Margaretta for being our longest serving staff member at Brightwater, for always having a positive, warm and inviting demeanour, and most of all, bringing a smile to residences faces each day.
