Kicking goals at Oats Street

Clients at Brightwater’s Oats Street rehabilitation centre were delighted to be visited by members of the West Coast Eagles this morning. Adam Selwood, Josh Smith, Patrick Bines, Nathan Vardy and Rosie Deegan were taken on a personal tour by diehard Eagles fan and Oats Street client, Brad.

As part of Brad’s rehabilitation journey, he recently learnt how to drive an electric wheelchair, using the opportunity to show West Coast team members around the site as his source of motivation. Brad’s room is decked out from top to bottom in Eagles memorabilia, making it an absolute treat when team members signed one of his favourite Eagles hats.

Eagles players featured left to right, Rosie Deegan, Josh Smith, Nathan Vardy, Patrick Bines and Adam Selwood, with Oats Street client Brad featured front and centre.

Retired Eagles player and current Manager of Game Development, Adam Selwood, brought a grin from ear to ear to Brad’s face when he announced he would send him a 2018 Premiership jumper signed by all members of the West Coast Eagles, so Brad could place it on his wall next to his framed jersey.

Brightwater Occupational Therapist Elysia who has been working alongside Brad, says... “The players were sensational with each and every client. Everyone was able to get involved in what was a fabulous morning.”

The tour continued with a morning tea where players mingled with staff and clients and signed hats, jerseys and posters. The morning to remember was rounded off by an interactive training session where players kicked and handballed the footy with staff and clients.

Brightwater would like to take the opportunity to thank the West Coast Eagles for visiting Brightwater Oats Street.

We look forward to the next visit!
