COVID-19 Update 24th December 2021

Posted on Friday, December 24, 2021

Today the Premier, Hon Mark McGowan, announced a further five cases of community transmission of Covid-19 in Perth and Peel region and has included details of extra exposure sites.

The State Government have put in place some extra restrictions for hospitality venues, but the same public health measures announced yesterday remain in place for our homes for the time being.

The COVID Restrictions (Gatherings and Related Measures) Directions (the Directions) have now also been published.  You can find the Directions here.

The Directions align closely with what was announced by the Premier yesterday, with an additional measure we need to be mindful of in our residential homes:

  • Masks must be worn by all staff, visitors and contractors both indoors and in outdoor spaces within a residential aged care facility.

These measures will be in place until 6am, Tuesday 28th December or until advised otherwise. We will provide you with an update prior to then.

In an abundance of caution, Brightwater will also put in place the following infection control measures in our residential homes:

  • Given many of our residents in our homes will potentially go home for Christmas, where possible we are asking that you complete a COVID-19 risk assessment if not done previously. This risk assessment will highlight ways to have a COVID-19 safe Christmas at home and what we will do as a residential care provider on the resident’s return. Our staff on site will assist our residents and you to complete this if required.
  • Increasing cleaning across our homes.
  • Limiting the mixing of different groups of visitors and residents in common areas throughout our homes where possible.

We also ask that during this time if you are feeling unwell, that you do make sure you postpone your visit.

If you have visited any of the exposure sites listed on the Healthy WA website please make sure you get tested and isolate.

We continue to require you to sign in via Zipline on arrival, taking your temperature and completing the health declaration.

Please also practice good hand hygiene when visiting.
