Brightwater client, Kathy Farmer, received a fitting farewell this week and she leaves Brightwater’s Transitional Accommodation Program in Marangaroo to move into her own home.
Surrounded by her friends and Brightwater staff who have supported her journey, Kathy enjoyed an afternoon tea of all of her favourite things – sweet treats, country and western music and even miniature ponies!
Kathy has lived at Brightwater for 22 years. She started her journey from our brain rehabilitation centre in Oats Street and also lived in supported independent living in Manning and Bentley before her recent stay at Marangaroo.
Kathy is now able to transition into her own home and says she is excited, but sad to be leaving Brightwater.
“Brightwater has been my family for so long, it is sad to say goodbye to all the wonderful people here – I am so grateful for their support,” she said.
For many Brightwater clients who transition from our homes into independent accommodation, they have limited funds to set up a unit and need assistance with the purchase of white goods, furniture, kitchen equipment, toiletries and linen.
Brightwater’s Homeward Bound program helps our clients by gifting them a starter pack for their transition back into the community. The starter pack includes, linen, towels, whitegoods, toiletries, kitchen appliances and grocery vouchers.
Corporate Supporter, HiscoNFE, have kindly supported this program through the provision of the starter pack.
Kathy was the very first to receive support from the Homeward Bound program and said she was “overwhelmed and very grateful to HiscoNFE for their generous support.”
