Brightwater celebrates Perth PrideFest

Posted on Thursday, December 5, 2019

As the glitter settles on what was a spectacular Pride Week here in Perth, we're taking a moment to celebrate PrideFest, which graced the streets of Northbridge on Saturday night.

As a proud supporter of the LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Intersex) community, Brightwater was extremely proud to sponsor the event, with a number of staff members and resident Dean, from Brightwater Warnbro attending on the night. Support Worker Pat, from Warnbro, attended along with Dean and said "he had the time of his life!"

Manuao, who helped coordinate the event for us had some lovely feedback we are delighted to share:

"As the glitter has settled on what was a phenomenal Saturday night, I just wanted to send you an email of sincere thanks to you and Brightwater for supporting Vic Park Pride for this years Pride Parade. We couldn’t be more grateful for your financial contribution to have allowed us to put together a group of 65+ strong marchers to strut our stuff through the streets of Northbridge on Saturday night.

We were colourful and kitch and marched to an up-tempo version of Taylor Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down”. Although we didn’t take the title of “Best Marching Group” this year, the feedback from the crowd was that we were an outstanding entry!

Gone is the day where the Pride Parade is a protest march for the equal rights for the LGBTI community and is now a march to celebrate individuality, community and inclusiveness. Our group comprised of a beautiful cross section of the community including 15 children, Our Lord Mayor Karen Vernon, 3 Councillors and friends and family… It was a pleasure to have some of your people march with us and march with pride.

Thank you again for your generosity"

We are over the moon to have been a part of this year's PrideFest and look forward to continuing our support of the LGBTI community into the future.
