Brightwater is registered as a public benevolent institution with the Australian Taxation Office, which means we can pass on special tax concessions to our staff. By utilising salary packaging, you can pay less tax and increase your take home pay.

Employee assistance program

From time to time, talking to someone about professional or personal issues can do us a world of good. All Brightwater employees and their families can take part in our employee assistance program, which includes four free and confidential counselling sessions per year.


At Brightwater we are committed to supporting staff with professional development opportunities. We encourage our staff to be progressive, continuously improving and embracing opportunities to expand on their personal and professional skills and capabilities to deliver our Mission.

Each year the academic courses available for scholarship support are selected for their relevance of the content to Brightwater’s services, their potential to improve the career prospects of the participants and also the course structure, allowing recipients to balance work and study commitments. Past opportunities have included the Graduate certificates in Health leadership and the graduate certificates in nursing.

Scholarship recipients then have the opportunity to share their learnings to encourage best practice with their colleagues and the wider organisation.

Each year, Brightwater also awards two scholarships to staff members who demonstrate an interest in research or further learning to benefit our clients. Applications are open to all employees and are reviewed by the Brightwater Research Centre and Executive Group.

Australian College of Nursing Affiliate

Brightwater is proud to be a platinum affiliate of the Australian College of Nursing. Brightwater recognises the importance of being able to balance your work commitments with your personal responsibilities and we are here to support you with this. Brightwater Spirit Awards

The Brightwater Spirit is at the heart of everything we do. Each quarter, we celebrate five special employees demonstrating our Mission, Pursuing the Dignity of Independence, and our values of Caring, Authentic, Courageous and Progressive. Quarterly award winners are invited to attend the Annual Spirit Awards, where a ‘first among equals’ winner is announced for each category, a wonderful way to celebrate our incredible staff.

New Hire Bonuses

If you are employed as a Community Support Worker, Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional, you could be eligible to receive a bonus payment of $500 on commencement and a further $1,000 when you reach six months of service. If you are employed as a Clinical Nurse Manager or Service Manager, you could be eligible for a bonus payment of $2,500 on commencement and a further $2,500 after 12 months. Conditions apply.
