Important Update: Residential aged care clients and families, 29 June 2021

Posted on Tuesday, June 29, 2021

As you would be aware, last night (28 June 2021) the WA State Government announced a four-day lockdown in the Perth and Peel regions, due to another community case of COVID-19.

This came into effect at 1201am this morning (29 June 2021) and, at this stage, will end at 1201am Saturday 3 July 2021.
You can read more in the WA State Government’s announcement here.

Overnight the State Government also updated the Visitors to Residential Aged Care Facilities (Outbreak Restrictions (Level 3)) Directions (RACF OR3 Directions). You can read those here.

This means:

  • Regarding visitors to residents in residential aged care, we must follow the definitions of the RACF OR3 Directions listed above. Therefore, visits are prohibited to residential aged care facilities except where visitors are providing end-of-life support.
    • Please note if someone meets the criteria for a visit they still must comply by all other visiting guidelines, including visits taking place in a resident’s room, social distancing and hand hygiene, wearing of a mask and completing a health declaration by signing in via Zipline on arrival.
  • In lieu of an in-person visit, video and telephone calls are available to you. Please phone your site to arrange this.

We know this is hard on everyone, and we thank you for your ongoing patience. I want to reassure you that we take the care of your loved ones very seriously and are doing all we can to keep them safe.

We will continue to keep you updated.

Stay safe,
Jennifer Lawrence, CEO
