Hats off to our legendary longstanding volunteers

Volunteers are the quiet achievers (or shall we say quiet heroes), behind so much of what makes Brightwater special. Showing up week after week, year after year, to offer their time, talents and heart.

This month, we’re proud to celebrate two incredible milestones, 25 years of service from John at Brightwater Warnbro and 20 years from Graeme at Maddies Café in Madeley, supported by his wife Jeannie who has also volunteered for 18 years.

Their decades of dedication have left a lasting impact on clients, families and staff alike.

John: 25 Years of Connection at Brightwater Warnbro

For a quarter of a century, John has been a much-loved part of the Brightwater Warnbro family. His presence has left a lasting impression not only on the clients he supports, but also on fellow staff and volunteers who admire his compassion and commitment.

A special morning tea was recently held in John’s honour, where clients shared heartfelt stories about the difference he’s made. John, his wife and long-time fellow volunteer Erika also spoke about the sense of family they’ve found through volunteering — a community built on kindness and shared purpose.

Graeme and Jeanie: The Power Duo of Maddies!

Over at Brightwater Madeley, the smell of freshly brewed coffee has been part of the daily rhythm for two decades thanks to Graeme, who has served an estimated 15,000 cups from Maddies Café. Every cup has come with a side of warmth, laughter and genuine care. Graeme is undoubtedly a true cornerstone of the ever-popular Maddie's Cafe, keeping folks coming back for some good quality coffee and chats!

Graeme’s milestone was celebrated with a morning tea attended by volunteers and staff, including his wife Jeannie, who has also been a dedicated volunteer for 18 years.

“The volunteers are a wonderful bunch, and we’ve had so much support from Brightwater,” Graeme shared.

To John, Graeme and Jeannie — thank you. You’ve given so much more than time. You've brought heart, connection and joy to those around you, and we are so grateful.
