Celebrating Brightwater’s Finalists at the WA Allied Health Awards

We’re excited to announce that the Allied Health Team at Brightwater Oats Street, along with Therapy Assistant, Doru Bocur, have been nominated for top honours at the 2025 WA Excellence in Allied Health Awards. The Oats Street team is a finalist for Allied Health Team of the Year, while Doru has been recognised as a finalist for Allied Health Assistant of the Year.

These nominations highlight the outstanding contributions of both our Oats Street team and Doru in supporting people across Brightwater’s services. Their dedication helps clients achieve meaningful goals, rebuild independence and strengthen connections with family, culture and community.

About Oats Street Rehabilitation Program

Oats Street in East Victoria Park is a purpose-built centre supporting people recovering from acquired brain injuries. Its immersive program blends smart environmental design, personal motivation and extended therapeutic timeframes, typically running for 12–24 months. Guided by research and an interdisciplinary team, residents work towards tailored goals across areas such as mobility, self-care, household tasks, problem-solving and independent living.

Manager Transitional Rehabilitation Program (Oats Street), Sally Willmott, said the nomination reflects the team’s dedication.

“I’m so proud of how our allied health team supports people with acquired brain injuries to regain independence and reconnect with loved ones. This is a great reflection of the impact they have every day.”

We’re also proud to celebrate Doru, who has been named a finalist for the Allied Health Assistant of the Year Award.

Doru’s commitment to person-centred care and willingness to go the extra mile have made a lasting impact on those he supports, making this nomination a fitting recognition of his dedication.

Brightwater is incredibly proud of both the Oats Street Allied Health Team and Doru for their outstanding work and well-deserved recognition. We wish Oats Street and Doru the very best of luck at the awards.

Winners will be announced at the awards evening on Monday, 14 October at the University Club, University of Western Australia.
