The Revamped Carer Gateway

Revamped Carer Gateway

Australia’s new one stop shop for Carer support!

Hey, have you heard about the new Carer Gateway? It's replacing the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre and is aimed at providing better support to carers in the country.

Carers are amazing people who provide care and support to family and friends with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or age-related conditions. There are around 2.7 million unpaid carers in Australia who contribute an estimated $77 billion worth of care each year!

The new Carer Gateway is much more user-friendly and accessible than the previous service. You can access the website or helpline 24/7 and find a range of resources, such as information on carer allowances and payments, respite care, and mental health support.

One of the best things about the new Carer Gateway is that it provides counseling services for carers. You can get help managing the emotional and practical challenges of caring for your loved one through online, phone, or in-person counseling with qualified professionals.

Respite services are also available through the Carer Gateway. You can access in-home, center-based, and emergency respite services to take a break from your caring responsibilities and recharge your batteries.

The Australian government has allocated over $550 million to the Carer Gateway over the next four years. This funding will enable the program to expand and provide more support to carers across the country.

Carer advocacy groups have welcomed the launch of the new Carer Gateway. It's an important step forward in recognizing the valuable role that carers play in our communities and providing them with the support they need.

The new Carer Gateway is an excellent development for carers in Australia. With its counselling services, respite care, and user-friendly website, it has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of carers across the country. You can access the new Carer Gateway by visiting www.carergateway.gov.au
