Under the sharks at AQWA

Young Onset Dementia (YOD) clients from our Kingsley Supported Independent Living house recently enjoyed a day out to AQWA, made possible through Life’s Possibilities funding.

The idea for the outing actually came from the clients themselves. During a house meeting, they suggested a trip to the aquarium followed by a pub lunch, and before long the plan was set.

Supported by YOD staff, the group spent the day exploring AQWA and getting up close with sharks, stingrays and all kinds of sea life.

Dave was particularly keen to capture the moment, making sure he got the best spot to photograph the sharks and stingrays on his phone. By the end of the visit, he had plenty of photos to look back on and remember the day.

Jason enjoyed the outing too and especially liked the group photo taken beneath one of the shark tanks. Seeing the shark gliding above their heads made it a picture worth keeping.

Julianne was happy simply to be out and about, enjoying the change of scenery and spending time with the group.

The day finished the way all good outings should, with a relaxed pub lunch together. It was a chance to sit down, chat about the morning’s highlights and enjoy each other’s company.

It was one of those days where everyone got to enjoy being out together, sharing something different and building a few more memories along the way.
