The Oaks brings home the gold at the LiveLighter Aged Care Games

Live Lighter Aged Care Games 2025 - Good Luck for The Cove RAC

Residents from Brightwater’s The Oaks aged care home who competed as the Brightwater Card Sharks, are celebrating after taking out 1st place at the LiveLighter Aged Care Games.

The Games, run by the Seniors Recreation Council of WA, are all about giving people in care settings the chance to enjoy team participation, light competition and plenty of social interaction through adapted games.

This year, the Brightwater Card Sharks threw themselves into events such as seated hockey, bean bag toss, skittles and pass ball — and their practice in the lead-up paid off as they proudly lifted the winner’s trophy.

The LiveLighter Aged Care Games have been running since 2003 and are supported by Healthway, the Department of Sport & Recreation, and local governments, with more than 9,000 participants involved over the years.

Congratulations to our residents and staff at The Oaks for their energy, enthusiasm and teamwork, and thank you to the organisers for making this event such a highlight in the aged care calendar.
