Smooth sailing this summer with Fishability!

Fishability experience with Birralee Residential Aged Care residents in February

There’s something special about being out on the ocean.

Earlier this month, two Birralee residents enjoyed a day on the water through Fishability, an organisation that makes fishing and boating experiences accessible for people of all abilities. The outing was made possible by Life’s Possibilities, giving residents the chance to get outdoors, try something different and enjoy a change of scenery.

Fishability is a Western Australian not-for-profit that has been creating inclusive fishing experiences for more than 20 years. With trained volunteers, accessible equipment and wheelchair-friendly boats and locations, they help remove barriers so everyone can enjoy time on the water in a relaxed, supported setting.

Supported by Therapy Assistant Denise, the residents spent the day out on the ocean, soaking up the fresh air and enjoying the calm, open surroundings. With staff support on hand, the day was easy going and focused on enjoyment, connection and simply being out in nature.

Experiences like this offer more than just a change of scenery. They create moments of connection, confidence and shared enjoyment, made possible through thoughtful partnerships and the right support.

Life’s Possibilities exists to help make days like these happen. By funding experiences that support community participation and meaningful moments, the program helps bring a sense of joy and possibility into everyday life.

We’re proud to support outings that bring fresh air, new experiences and a sense of adventure to the people we support.
