Congratulations to our WANMEA 2022 Excellence in Residential Care Award winner

Linda Van Zyl 2022 WANMEA Winner

Brightwater congratulates Linda Van Zyl who won the Excellence in Residential Care Award for 2022 at the recent WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.

Linda, a Registered Nurse at Brightwater's residential aged care home in Mandurah, The Cove, has over 30 years of nursing experience. She has taken on the role of acting Clinical Nurse Manager when required and carried out the role with a level head and patience. Colleagues describe an infectious smile that lights up a shift and great sense of humour that is adored by residents.

Chief Executive Officer Catherine Stoddart said the award was a tremendous achievement and a testament to Linda's dedication and commitment to providing outstanding care to our residents.

“Linda's passion for her work is inspiring, and we are grateful to have her as an integral member of our team,” Catherine said.

As part of her nominee application, Linda noted a pivotal moment in her career.

“The moment my mind shifted from a fixed mindset to a growing mindset is when I started achieving great things,” she said.

“Suddenly I had the desire to learn more, to teach more to help make others successful. I became stronger and learned how to persist in the face of setbacks."

Linda adds that she learned from mistakes and made an effort to thrive during challenging times.

We also extend our congratulations to Registered Nurse, Yagnesh Vyas, from Brightwater Madeley who was a finalist in the same category.

The Brightwater team had a wonderful evening celebrating with Linda and Yagnesh and hearing the wonderful stories of the work Nurses across Western Australia do.
