Celebrating International Volunteer Day

What do you give the people who give so much?

For International Volunteer Day on 5 December, our communities chose a simple and heartfelt answer. Across Brightwater sites, residents rolled up their sleeves, got their hands a little dirty, and potted succulents to gift to our volunteers.

The activity tied in closely with our Connecting Community theme. It was a chance for residents to take part in something hands-on and meaningful, while acknowledging the time, care and connection volunteers bring to our communities.

At Madeley, the newly formed Bloom and Beyond group played a special role. Led by a volunteer, the group potted succulents on behalf of all Madeley residents and staff, turning appreciation into a shared effort that reflected the spirit of the community.

For many, it was just as much about the moment as the gift itself. Potting the succulents created space to chat, laugh and reflect, while making something that would continue to grow.

To our volunteers, thank you for everything you do. We truly could not do this without you!
