This step-by-step guide will help you understand how to get started with the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
1. Talk to our team
Before you get the ball rolling, get in touch.
As one of the leading NDIS approved providers in Perth, we offer a free pre-planning service that prepares you for your NDIA meeting, ensuring you get a comprehensive, well-funded plan that works for you.
2. Get access to the NDIS
To be covered by the NDIS, you’ll need to:
- Be under the age of 65
- Have an impairment that is likely to be permanent and has a significant impact on your everyday life
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or permanent visa holder
- Live in an NDIS area
If you meet the access requirements, your funding eligibility will be assessed by an NDIS representative. They’ll also advise when you can access your NDIS plan.
Note: If the NDIS availability is yet to be rolled out in your area, you may still be able to access funding from the State Government.
3. Develop your NDIS plan with help from us
Once you’re eligible, you’ll develop your personal plan with one of our NDIS representatives.
Your plan contains an outline of your goals, what you need to achieve and the funding you’ll receive.
4. Manage your NDIS plan
At Brightwater, our NDIS support coordination service can help you make the most out of your NDIS funding.
Once you’ve got a plan in order, you can choose how you’ll manage your NDIS support. Your options include:
- Self-managed - You pay providers and manage any admin yourself.
- Provider-managed - You choose a provider to manage all payments on your behalf and to help with service agreements, hiring staff and preparing reports about your NDIS funding.
- Shared management - For example, you might want to manage your consumables but let someone else manage your therapy funds.
5. Review your NDIS Plan
Your NDIS planner will review your plan every 12 months to make sure you’re getting the support and services you need.
